  • GEO-TECHNICAL DRILLS

    QXW Series

QXW Series Geo-Technical drills are used primarily for drilling grout-curtains.

Cubex first developed the QXW drill for the pilot project at McCook Reservoir in 2003 with Toronto-based Advanced Construction Techniques Ltd, (A.C.T). The US Army Corps of Engineers Chicago district used multiple in-hole surveying tools and production drilling data to analyze the drilling methods. From the results of the test holes, the Cubex/Wassara AB percussion drilling method was recommended by the US Army Corps over core or rotary drilling.

The QXW 810 & 1210 are track drills with a frame-mounted feed system that drills with a Wassara AB DTH Hammer using high-pressure water from the on board 85gpm (322 l/min) or 120gpm (454 l/min) water pump system at 207 bar (3000 psi).

QXW 810The QXW 810 is a track drill with a frame-mounted feed system that drills with a Wassara® DTH hammer using high-pressure water from the on board 85 gpm pump system. This drill has a deck mounted 48-drill pipe carousel holding 10 ft. drill pipe. The pipe is added to the feed with the use of the on board pipe arm. QXW 1210The QXW 1210 is a track drill with a frame-mounted feed system that drills with a Wassara® DTH hammer using high-pressure water from the on board 120 gpm pump system. This drill has a deck mounted Pipe Rack pipe holding forty-four (44) 10 ft drill pipe. The pipe is added to the feed with the use of the on board pipe arm.
